A Visit by Innova Primary School, Singapore

Teddy Bear Project with Japan

Teddy Bear Project has been a success; it was widely introduced throughout the world and nearly 10,000 schools have started to exchange teddy bears with other schools. The teddy bears are regarded as guests; on the other hand, students also learn to be hosts. Students, as hosts, are required to write diaries from the viewpoints of the teddy bears about their cross-cultural experiences. After the hosting is finished, we file the diaries and ship them back to their original owners. By viewing the diaries, with all the hosting and interactions with the puppets, students learn the traditions and customs of the other country.
We have been initiating the Teddy Bear Project ever since 2015. We have exchanged teddy bears with Korea’s Kuryong Primary School and UK’s Pinewood Primary School. With all the supports and participations from our students and parents, we decided to seek more schools abroad that were willing to have the exchange opportunity. Last year our new partner was Ikeda Elementary School and both schools have sent out 6 puppets respectively to the other school. Our students reviewed the daily life of our puppets, which were sent to Japan, and were astonished by the different lifestyles in Japan.
